With only a week to go until we can finally get our hands on Super Mario Run it doesn't come as much of a surprise that you'll need an internet connection in order to play it.

According to a recent interview with Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto on Mashable the main reason behind its need for connection is security (i.e. piracy). With the game releasing in 150 countries, all with their own networks, by running Super Mario Run as 'online only' it helps keep the software secure.

By running the game online it also means that Nintendo can keep track of whether the three game modes are all functioning together.

"We wanted to be able to leverage that network connection with all three of the [Super Mario Run] modes to keep all of the modes functioning together and offering the game in a way that keeps the software secure. This is something that we want to continue to work on as we continue to develop the game."

Whilst it's a good idea in Nintendo's eyes to protect the game, it means that Super Mario Run won't quite be an on-the-go game like most of us wanted unless you tap into your mobile data.

Counsel without help is useless.
A MAN came into a forest and asked the Trees to provide him a handle for his axe. The Trees consented to his request and gave him a young ash-tree. No sooner had the man fitted a new handle to his axe from it, than he began to use it and quickly felled with his strokes the noblest giants of the forest. An old oak, lamenting when too late the destruction of his companions, said to a neighboring cedar, "The first step has lost us all. If we had not given up the rights of the ash, we might yet have retained our own privileges and have stood for ages."

Rocky Rampage is runner game unlike any other, and it's rolling its way onto mobile devices in the near future. Here, you play as Boulder Cobblestone (yes, you read right), who happens to rock some cool underwear. It's this piece of apparel that has immense significance in the game.

That's because the goal of the Rocky Rampage is to collect Boulder's collection of undies which was stolen from him by the evil Empire of Scissor. This is purely out of jealously for the great collection and satisfaction of owning it.

These pairs of underwear are called "Wonderpants", and you'll do whatever it takes to get them back. However, you will not be able to go on this journey alone, as your trusty buddy Pebble will be by your side throughout.

The cool thing about Rocky Rampage is that you gradually build yourself up throughout. At first, you'll launch and roll at a shorter pace. But as you go, you'll be able to unlock many cool abilities that will enhance your skills. You'll then be able to launch and roll yourself further in the process.

The more rewards you collect, the further you'll be able to go. You'll take on enemies along the way as you journey across the land.

I don't know about you guys but I think Dark Souls is one of the best western RPGs to date, and the idea that it could be on its way to VR both excites and terrifies me very much.

At The Golden Joystick Awards, the pre-show livestream resulted in some rather unexpected news as the creator of Dark Souls, Atsuo Yoshimura, was bombarded with VR-related questions. Most importantly it looks like we may be getting some form of the rage-inducing game on VR eventually.

Though we already have Chronos, a tricky third-person RPG, on Oculus, Dark Souls would certainly lend itself well for this form of play - I'm imagining it to be a little like the old Resident Evil and Silent Hill visual perspectives.

However my one major hesitation, and probably quite a lot of people's hesitation, is in hoping that they bring out the full game and not just an experience of it like PSVR's Rise of the Tomb Raider. We'll just have to wait and see.

*Original story inspired by UploadVR*
